Meghan Markle has begun her big first solo engagement with Queen Elizabeth II in Chester, about 200 miles northwest of London. The two traveled overnight via Elizabeth’s exclusive royal train and have just gotten off at Runcorn Station. Markle is wearing an elegant, cream Givenchy dress, with black Sarah Flint heels. (Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy also designed Markle’s wedding dress, so Markle’s choice to wear Keller’s designs for another big moment is a major nod of approval to the house.)

The Queen is wearing a lime-green Stewart Parvin coat and Rachel Trevor hat. The two will kick off the morning unveiling the Mersey Gateway Bridge at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes, Cheshire. Later, the two will open Storyhouse Theatre together and will have lunch in Chester’s Town Hall.

This is Markle’s first event ever without Prince Harry and her very first engagement with just the Queen. Markle was last out with the royal family on Saturday, when she attended her first Trooping the Colour.

And this is just the start of the Duchess of Sussex’s royal work: “She has been quietly working on a project that will be announced later this year,” royal expert and ABC News royal contributor Omid Scobie previously told ELLE.com. “Meghan’s first solo engagements will see her visiting a number of small charities and grass roots organizations across the UK as she continues to decide what her first patronage will be. We know that she’s a keen feminist, it’s written in her official bio on the official Royal Family website—a first!—and she’s interested in issues that affect youth in the UK, such as gang culture. It will be exciting to see how she uses this very influential platform she now stands on.”
