Apparently, royal protocol dictates that nails be kept short, groomed, and if there is any polish at all, flesh-toned or light pink shades only. The Queen herself has reportedly been using the same shade of polish, Essie Ballet Slippers, since 1989. Commitment!

Markle has already been adapting to this new way of life. Ever since her engagement, she’s worn neutral nails at every royal public appearance.

Her sister-in-law Kate Middleton followed the rules on her wedding day in 2011. As the Duchess’s manicurist Jo Hansford revealed then, she wore a combo of Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine Nail Enamel,a barely-there pink, and Essie Allure, a sheer beige.

Since Markle has moved to London, word on the street is that her go-to salon is Nails and Brows in Mayfair, where manis run from $30 to $80.
